Frequently Asked Questions

As a new bride-to-be, what should I bring to my first visit to the store?

Bringing pictures of gowns you like – either from magazines or the Internet – will allow your bridal consultant to help you find the gown of your dreams – faster.
For your convenience, we provide strapless bras and petticoats for gown try-on — or you may bring your own.
If possible, bring shoes that have the approximate heel height you want to wear.
Please wear minimal makeup to protect the gowns from stains.
Having your hair in a style you are considering for the wedding will help you visualize yourself dressed in your gown and accessories.

Who should I bring with me on that first visit?

We recommend bringing just one or two people – having too many opinions tends to get in the way of making choices.

Choose friends or relatives who know you well and that you can trust to help you with your biggest decisions. All attention should be on you as the bride – so you can get the gown you love.

Is your store handicap accessible?

Yes, our store is fully accessible for wheelchairs.

In addition, if your mother, grandmother or other relative has difficulty coming to us, we can arrange to go to her home for a fitting.

What shade of white will look best with my complexion?

For a fair complexion – Try gowns with a tint of pink or peach to enhance your coloring.
For a darker complexion – A true white may be a strikingly beautiful choice for you.
For any complexion – Cream or ivory shades are an excellent choice that look good on most every bride. True white can be tricky with medium to fair skin tones.

Would it be unusual for me to buy a dress the first time I try on gowns?

No, it is not unusual. Brides often find the gown of their dreams during their very first visit. There’s no “unwritten law” that you have to keep trying on gowns, comparing every dress to the one that was “love at first sight.”

Trust your instincts! After all, the sooner you decide on your wedding dress, the sooner you can move on to planning for the rest of your wedding party. The style and look of your gown dictates the wedding details.

What if my bridesmaids are from out-of-town?

Not to worry. Here are the steps we will take to ensure their gowns fit – and fit the color scheme:

We will work closely with your bridesmaids to get their measurements and determine what size is best for them.
When the gowns come in, we will ship them directly to your bridesmaids so they can be altered in time for the wedding.
We recommend that you order all of your bridesmaids’ gowns from our salon to ensure they will be cut from the same dye-lot of fabric and to ensure the same expected ship date.

How many fittings will I need?

Most brides need two or three fittings.

The first is the initial try-on and fit plus bustle pinning.
Your second appointment is to examine the dress for the perfect fit. Some brides are ready to pick up at this point.
The third is the final fitting if more alterations are to be completed, and gown pickup.

Are alterations an extra charge?

Yes, all alterations are additional. Please contact us for alterations estimates.

How long should my gown be after alterations?

This is a matter of your preference, but here are a few pointers:

Formal gowns usually lightly dust the floor.
Couture gowns are often 1-2 inches off the floor in the front.
Your bustle can drag a little to continue the train effect. Or – if you’re a bride who looks forward to dancing the night away – it can be even with the front of the gown.

Will my gown be steamed before I pick it up?

Yes, we provide one complimentary steaming before the gown is picked up from our store, including photo-shoot pickups. Additional steaming services are offered for an extra charge.
